The South African Hajj and Umrah Council, of which the MJC SA is a National Executive member hereby announces the Official list of Accredited Hajj operators for the year 1431 (2010)

There is a total of 31 Hajj Operators that have been accredited.

Travel arrangements for Hajj should only be done via an accredited Hajj Operator.

All praise to Almighty Allah who has exalted us with his Quraan. Salutations and peace be upon our noble and august Master, Muhammed (صلي الله عليه و سلم).

As a new era dawns up in many spheres of our economic, social and political lives, many challenges stare at us with regards to pursuing our Islamic obligations in the current changing climate.

Many questions and issues arise from these challenges that never existed in our past gloom. The Muslim public relies on our Ulama being the custodians of the Shariah to provide Shar’ie guidance in the various challenges we face as a society. The issues of freedom of expression, legal recognition of civil unions, Muslim Personal Law, the current urgency to legalize prostitution are some of the challenges we face as the Ummah.

The Muslim Judicial Council hereby notifies the Ulama and their respective constituency that the matter of the Muslim Personal Law is treated with utmost importance and earnestness and is discussed at all levels in the MJC structures. We hope to place in perspective the MJC’s involvement and commitment to the process in the legislation of the MPL for the past few months.

The 10th International Qira-ah Competition, Moscow Russia.


The Russian Mufti’s Council, based in Moscow, Russia hosted their Tenth International Quran Qira-ah Competition on the 20th and the 21st of June 2009.

The Muslim Judicial Council’s Dept. of Quranic Affairs for the first time received an invitation to attend the auspicious event and as a result nominated Hafith Hussain Dalvi, a well known local Qari to represent South Africa at the annual event.
