PRESS RELEASE

It is with great concern for safety, security, preservation of peace and contentment of the residents of Manenberg, Hanover Park and surrounding areas that the Muslim Judicial Council (SA) will meet with the Imams (priests) of Mosques in Manenberg, Maulana Abdur Raghman Abrahams, Shaykh Abdullah Lakay and Ml Anwar Mohamed on Saturday, 28th November 2015 at the Markaz Mujahideen Mosque.

The MJC leadership will discuss the challenges faced by the Imams and work towards ensuring safety precautions and good guidance during the “silly season” which annually affects children and families. The increased consumption of alcohol and the use of drugs in a community which is rife with gangsterism contributes to reckless behavior, promiscuity, violence, trauma and loss of life. This environment is not conducive for peace nor is it ideal for families. We therefore urge all stakeholders to be responsible, think about the children and the negative effects of violence on their lives and refrain from doing anything which will negatively affect a child.

The “NO TO VIOLENCE YES TO PEACE” program details are:

DATE: 28th November 2015

TIME: 15h00 to 18h00
