Dua at the opening of Nelson Mandela’s centenary celebrations

The following dua (prayer) was made by the MJC’s Former President and current exco and Imaarah member, Shaykh Ebrahim Gabriels at the opening of the Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela Centenary Celebrations held at Mvezo Komkhulu, today.

“God Almighty, on this particular day 100 years ago, one of the world’s greatest leaders was born.

We thank Thee for honouring us with such a great favour.

God Almighty, we beseech Thee to bless our gathering and Celebrations here today in Honour of the life and legacy of our Father, Tata Madiba.
God Almighty, it is seldom that history gives birth to such great men as our Beloved and Honourable Father and Icon of the World – His Excellency President Nelson Mandela.

God Almighty, because of this Great Man, we humbly ask Thee to bless and Protect his beloved Family.

We ask Thee to bless and Protect his Country and all its people.
We ask Thee to bless, protect and strengthen the man that was his 1st choice … namely our current Honourable President, His Excellency President Cyril Ramaphosa.

God Almighty, our Father Tata Madiba dedicated his life to the struggle of the African people.

God Almighty, he cherished the ideal of a democratic and free society in which all people live together in harmony and with equal opportunities.

God Almighty, we beseech Thee to continue to Bless our beautiful country and to help us and our leaders to continue to build the South Africa that our Tata envisioned.

We ask Thee to Bless us and our leaders with the noble qualities of our Tata Madiba, so that we may build stronger families, stronger communities and become a stronger nation.

God Almighty, let the qualities of love, tolerance, peace, forgiveness, mercy and hope enter the hearts and lives of our people.

God Almighty, help us to embody the qualities of Tata Madiba, so that we may be citizens he will be proud of.
God Almighty, bless us with Peace and Prosperity in our Beautiful country.

God Almighty, this great leader, after being imprisoned for 27 years said “We won’t be able to enjoy our freedom here in South Africa unless and until Palestine be free.” Grant them freedom.

God Almighty, our Tata made great sacrifices and endured hardships so that we may enjoy the Free South Africa we do today.

God Almighty our Tata famously said, “When a man has done what he considers to be his duty to his people and his country, he can rest in peace”.

We Beseech Thee God Almighty, to grant our Tata Madiba’s iconic legacy to continue to live in our hearts and actions, Ameen”.
