CONDEMNATION OF BLASPHEMY AGAINST PROPHET MUḤAMMAD, PEACE BE UPON HIM.

The Muslim Judicial Council (SA) condemns, in all unequivocal manners, the recent statements made by the spokesperson for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). These statements are inaccurate and, by their very nature, are inflammatory and will create feelings of hatred and hostility.

The Prophet Muḥammad’s (PBUH) position in Islam is integral to the Islamic doctrine. The same doctrine emphasizes respect for all the Prophets of God (PBUT), remains deferential to religious differences and calls for religious tolerance.

However, we categorically state that any form of blasphemous statements will never be entertained. The continued far-right anti-Islamic sentiments of adherents to the BJP membership over the recent past remains a concern.

We reiterate that respectful conduct towards religions and religious beliefs must be maintained.
