Arbitration, Mediation and Conciliation

This Department deals with matters relating to Arbitration and Mediation of Masajid, namely Madaaris and Islamic Organisations. The Arbitration, Mediation and Conciliation Department is committed to display fairness, justice and impartiality. It prides itself that all cases are handled with the highest levels of confidentiality. The Department is truly committed to resolve all matters in adherence to the governing procedures and protocols, in accordance with the Sharia.

How to Book a Consultation

All consultations are held strictly by appointment. Complainants can either call the Arbitration, Mediation and Conciliation Department Administrator on 021 684 4634 during office hours or email mediation@mjc.org.za. The email should outline a brief background of the complaint, together with a statement that highlights the concerns, as well as all relevant contact details. After, all parties will be requested to email a summary of their arguments.

All correspondence will be via email to maintain an auditable record

Upon receipt of the email:

  1. The matter will be discussed with Head of the Department
  2. A personal appointment will be arranged with the Complainant to ensure their concerns are fully captured and understood
  3. The Respondent will be contacted and informed about the grievance and a personal appointment arranged with him/her
  4. A hearing will be held with both parties (if needed)
