Al Azhar Cape Town

The Al-Azhar Institute of Cape Town is a subsidiary educational institution of the MJC. The school is unique in that it provides normal secular education (according to the Western Cape Education Department curriculum) as well as Islamic education and assistance (provided by the Al-Azhar Egyptian Mission in South Africa).

History

The Institute was established in November 1994 with the signing of an Agreement between the MJC and the Al-Azhar University, Cairo, Egypt that was endorsed by the Provincial Government of the Western Cape. The Institute began on 1 January 1995 with 48 students. The Institute currently operates a Primary School and a High School.

Vision

The Institute is dedicated to ensuring top-rated care-giving services coupled and high quality, activity-based, learning for children in all age groups. It has a strong commitment to accessibility and diversity. The open door policy welcomes all who desire to provide a better quality of care, preparedness and education for their children.

Locations

The Institute currently has two campuses. The Primary School is in Mitchell’s Plain. The High School is in Athlone (formerly known as St. Columbus High School).
