MJC supports children with down syndrome

The President of the Muslim Judicial Council (SA) Shaykh Irafaan Abrahams attended an event hosted by Muslim Hands to honour parents with down syndrome children and to hand over nebulizers toiletries and gifts to them over the weekend.

In his address to the attendees, Shaykh Abrahams stated that the MJC is working on its offices becoming accessible to the physically challenged. Shaykh also gave its support to special needs organizations.
 
Muslim Hands were commended for taking up the challenge and serving the community.

“We salute Muslim Hands for their incredible work as well as all other organizations serving this noble cause. The MJC supports and stands with you,” Shaykh Abrahams said.
 
He also encouraged the parents never to give up even when they should feel despondent.
 
“A test has been placed upon you by giving you a physically challenged child. You have been chosen by Almighty Allah. You accepted this and, so He, Allah Almighty will certainly make your path to paradise easy for you. The Almighty Allah calls on you to be patient and serve with empathy. He (Allah) knows when you are patient through your challenges,” Shaykh Abrahams continued.

Shaykh Abrahams met with the founder of the organization, Angels of Heaven, Maimoena Williams. William is a mother of twins who both have down syndrome – a very rare case.
 
“We call upon the Ulama for their support and to be visible. We thank them for being here today,” Sister Williams said. “As parents with down syndrome children, we have hope. For my twins, I make dua they aspire to be Olympic athletes Ameen.”
