The Muslim Judicial Council (SA), as a founding member of the Western Cape Religious Leaders Forum, is saddened to hear of the devasting fire that engulfed the Beit Midrash Morasha Synagogue in Arthur’s Road, Seapoint on Tuesday evening.

We are grateful to the brave firefighters for saving a place of worship, risking their lives to extinguish the blaze and to save some of the religious material/books from being engulfed by the flames.

“This is indeed a sad day for Rabbi Sam Thurgood and the entire congregation and we wish them the necessary strength and contentment during this challenging time,” said MJC Secretary-General, Shaykh Isgaak Taliep.
