- GBV 1 - Arrest for Brutal Assault and Islamophobic Attack

The MJC is pleased at the information received regarding Asheeqah Benjaman from Paarl.

She was the victim of a brutal, physical abuse and Islamophobic attack last month

An arrest has been made this morning and the suspect is to appear in court on 21 October.

The MJC acknowledges the matured and professional manner the Paarl Muslim Jamaah has dealt with this issue and their interaction with the authorities and SAPS.

The community support and assistance to the victim stand to be admired and collectively we have a responsibility to work for a crime free community.

We compliment SAPS for the work they have done thus far and call for no bail to be granted on 21 October, as was the commitment from President Cyril Ramaphosa.
