Destruction in KZN and lives lost.
Over the past few days we have witnessed, in horror, the destruction caused by the storm in KwaZulu-Natal. Hours of downpour and raising water levels have resulted in flash floods and mudslide, unlike what has been experienced before.
We pray that the Almighty grants respite to all affected, alleviate the difficulties experienced and may all residents throughout the province remain safe and secure, Amin. More than 200 lives have been lost and many souls still unaccounted for.
Sadly we saw a social media post of a Morningside Masjid having collapsed and the mua’ththin, Sheikh Abdur
Rashid, had been found beneath the rubble having sadly passed away. To the families that have lost loved ones we pray that you find contentment.
To the people of KZN you are in our prayers. “The Garden Province” will blossom and bloom
again soon. While the cost of the destruction is estimated to be in the billions, we pray that no
further lives are lost. The immense and sheer scale of destruction may be alarming, but life
remains more precious.
Testimony to the elements of ubuntu can be seen in the swift action by our humanitarian aid
agencies helping and assisting the residents of KZN. Let’s come together, help and support.
