MJC calls on Hawks to conclude investigation into the Verulam Mosque attack

The MJC is extremely concerned that Hawks have not updated the public on their investigations of the Verulam Mosque attack.

“Almost three months have passed and the Hawks are mum on their investigations,” said MJC Secretary-General, Shaykh Isgaak Taliep. “The Verulam attack caused much debate within the Muslim community and the media. We cannot emphasize enough how essential it is to arrest the perpetrators and let them face the full might of the law”

It is believed that three unknown men entered the mosque, killing one person and injuring others before the month of Ramadan. SAPS recovered a device that was aimed to start a fire a few days after the incident.
